Our story
From strongman competition to a trusted local company
Matt was born and raised in Victoria, BC, where he entered the delivery business in 1999 with the purchase of his first truck. The name Strongman comes from Matt’s involvement in the sport of Strongman, where he competed internationally.
He won Western Canada’s Strongest Man in 2008 and subsequently finished fourth at Canada’s Strongest Man. That result qualified Matt to represent Canada at the 2008 World’s Strongest Man competition in Charleston, West Virginia.
Matt retired from competing some years ago and turned his focus to growing Strongman Group into the five-star operation it is today, providing moving services and delivery and appliance installation across Vancouver Island, the surrounding Gulf Islands and the Lower Mainland.
