Matt was born and raised in Victoria, BC where he entered the delivery business in 1999 with the purchase of his first truck. The name Strongman derives from Matt’s involvement in the sport of Strongman, where he competed internationally, culminating in winning Western Canada’s Strongest Man in 2008, and a subsequent 4th place finish at Canada’s Strongest Man. That result qualified Matt to represent Canada at the 2008 World’s Strongest Man competition in Charleston, West Virginia.

Matt retired from competing some years ago, turning his focus to growing Strongman Group into the 5 ⭐️ operation it is today, servicing Vancouver Island, the surrounding Gulf Islands, and the Lower Mainland.
